Ship Images 2

Images of ships continued...

Ship Images

Here I have some images of medieval battleships and pirate ships that I used to help me design some shapes for the ship that will be modelled and used in our piece of work.

Scene 6-7

Here is the animatic scene 6-7. The rumbling of his stomach is supposed to be in response to hunger and not supposed to make him look like he's laughing. Also the animation is a tad slower than it's going to be in the final piece...

Animatic Begins

Today I have begun the 3D animatic. The 1st scene and 2nd scene are themselves just still shots but the next scenes will be animated in rough so as to get an idea of how certain scenes will play out...

Characters for 3D Animatic

For the animatic, the group have decided that we would do a 3D one with some simply animations.
Below I have created some rough characters using cubes in maya to the image of each of the 3 pirates and the guard in a 3/4 view and a front view.

Some sketches...

After we decided on our story we all went away to do some sketches for the environment, the items in it and the layout of the traps the Pirates set...

In my designs below I focused mainly on the rough creation of the kind of make-shift weaponry and traps the Pirates could make a use for.

The Story...

After almost a fortnight Pirates of the Produce Aisle has finally finalized it's story, having altered/tweaked it 4 or so times.

Here is the original synopsis...

Eventually the story changed after a meeting with a guest lecturer...

Again we had another pitch with our tutors...

We have finally come to the agreement that we no longer have any time to make any major alterations to the story and must proceed forward with development...

The BA Begins

And thus my 3rd year in Animation at college begins and already it seems like it could be tougher than finding a job. Keeping with the trend of the BA Animation top-up year at Ravensbourne the best pitched ideas for a short film are voted by the students for the students to be worked on for the academic entire year and everyone has to offer their (relavent) services to the 'Directors' of each film.

At the moment I have begun working primarily with Lewis Taylor, whose short film 'Pirates of the Produce Aisle' was selected to be one of the 3rd year films for 2009/2010. At the moment I am helping Lewis out with organizing the starting up of the project.

I have also asked to help out Nathan Wright on his short film 'Red Rock' in the area of modelling characters and other interesting paraphernalia within his film...

As it is the first time our primary concern is now that of Pre-Production: Research, concept work of characters, environments and objects, script writing, voice recording and of cause the ever engaging Animatic.

We of cause also have our monsterous dissertation to do, something we get the pleasure of focusing on in the 2nd term. As well as lessons in the areas of Business Studies and Film & Animation Contextual Studies.
